How to take

It is commonly known that DHA is an essential fatty acid required in our diets, however it’s less known that as a triglyceride molecule, DHA has 3 double bonds attached to it and the position of each double bond can have an impact on its properties and effects in the body.

When it comes to absorption in the body, DHA at the sn-2 position can enter the brain and of the DHA found in breastmilk, 52-65% is located at the sn-2 position.

Furthermore, DHA located at the sn-2 position oxidizes slower over time, which makes it a more stable form of DHA.

How much DHA can I take per day?

Studies involving pregnant participants, have utilised daily doses between 200 – 2200mg per day of DHA.
